Devon
This seaside staycation enjoys stunning panoramic sea views along the Exe and to Powderham Castle beyond, and its toes right in the water is Searles. This truly beautiful cottage is set in the heart of Lympstone – one of Devon’s prettiest villages.
Well connected, you can walk (or take the train) along the picturesque Avocet Line following the eastern bank of the Exe estuary to the sea at Exmouth, or to Topsham with its interesting independent stores, boutiques and restaurants, both 3 miles away.
Inside, the cottage is light, bright and thoroughly stylish – perfect for romantic couples or for families.
Over two floors, you’ll find the bedrooms both with glorious water views and the family bathroom upstairs.
On the ground floor, why not relax in the lovely bay window in the smart sitting room and take in the views with morning coffee?
Or dine in the kitchen/diner where you’ll find sleek surfaces, slate floors and all the mod cons for your convenience.
Outside is a gorgeous little sun terrace with table and chairs overlooking the water – an idyllic spot for drinks and an evening meal whilst watching the sunset.
If you don’t feel like cooking, there are several good food pubs in this little-changed village.
There are many attractions in the local area, including a number of good sandy beaches.
For traditional family seaside fun, head to the beach at Exmouth (parts of which are dog friendly all year) where you’ll find acres of sand and for the adventurous among you a myriad of water sports.
Lympstone Manor and its exceptional vineyard are close by, or for a fun day out with the children why not try the World of Country Life or Crealy family theme park?
Whether you are looking for a relaxing family holiday on golden beaches or a romantic break for two in a truly stunning location, Searles is a little corner of heaven in which you can get away-from-it-all.
